In order to bring its management programmes to international standards, particularly MBA, Gitam University has entered into a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with 123-year-old Central Michigan University (CMU) of USA and also discussed the possibility of collaborations in teaching and research.
CMU’s economics department senior faculty and MBA program director Dr Debasish Chakraborty visited the Gitam University campus and interacted with vice-chancellor Prof G Subrahmanayam on Thursday.
Following the interaction, the CMU director said they have revamped their curriculum with new subjects such as business ethics, business analytics, data mining and leadership qualities. He also briefed the Gitam VC about the teaching pattern and mentioned that apart from classroom teaching they are also encouraging MBA students to take up online discussions and case studies. He complimented Gitam University for maintaining international standards in management education and felt that Gitam students can easily digest the CMU teaching methodology.
Gitam University VC said the university is trying to adopt the latest in the business world by starting new courses such as business analytics and big data from the new academic year. He said the university is planning to send its faculty to a few identified foreign universities to study new areas. He said the MoA between Gitam and CMU would give a new dimension to MBA programmes in India.
